A treat for mommy...

Friday morning my mom watched Emma.  It was her 1st time watching both Jacob and Emma, and everything went beautifully!

What more can you ask for... a little Starbucks and a pedicure!

Emma's newborn pictures

So copy the link below and you can see Emma's newborn pictures.  They will only be posted until 2/17/09 so take a look at them soon.

Our little gal did a great job, we love her pictures.  Good thing, because we went through a lot to get them; 2 photo sessions, Marie being peed on, Doug being puked on and then peed on, but they are worth it!
We hope that you like them as well!

Thank you for beautiful pictures Heidi!!!

Our 1st "play" date...

So you don't have much "playing" going on when you have a 10 week old, 8 week old and 3 week old group of babies, but us moms enjoyed ourselves.

We all met at Starbucks in Del Mar. It was a beautiful day out!

Courtney and Audrey (8 weeks old)

Kristyn and Jillian (10 weeks old)

And of course little Emma, who slept almost the entire time.

Thanks for a fun afternoon ladies, can't wait to do it again!

Emma meets the Newell Family...

Last night we met up for dinner with our good friends the Newell family.  Right after Emma was born they all got really sick, so they wanted to wait until they were better to meet Emma.
The whole family.

Taylyr, Stepheni and Emma

Thanks for a fun night out with great company!

Hip Hip Hooray...

... Emma is 3 weeks old today!

She is such a fun little gal!
Mommy and Daddy love her lots.

On the move...

So our little Emma is quite active already.  When Doug puts her on his chest to burp her she does this scooting thing up his chest.  She actually moves a good distance. This video doesn't capture it as well as I would have liked, but you'll get the point.

3 week weigh in...

Mommy and Emma waiting for the Doctor.

If you read our blog last week, we had to come back to the doctor again this week for a weigh in.  They were a little concerned because she wasn't gaining enough weight.

Well this week she didn't gain any weight, she is still 9 lbs. 2 oz. from last week.  Dr. McCormick isn't too worried because she says Emma is so alert, which is nice to not have a doctor worried. So we are now supposed to supplement with a little bit of formula along with me breast feeding.  I am not thrilled about this, but we will do whatever we need to do to keep our little gal healthy.  And it is not for good, just until we can get her to gain a little bit.

And guess what... back again next week for a weigh in.

Doug thinks that because she was born so big that she was given a bit of a complex.  Everyone said "wow what a big girl", so he thinks she is trying to watch her figure.  Mommy and Daddy are going to have to make sure that Emma has lots of self confidence and doesn't pay attention to what others say.

2nd visit to Church

Emma went to Church for the 2nd time this past Sunday.  She did great again!

Here she is all dressed for church, doesn't she look sporty?! I love her little hoodie. It was kind of yucky weather so we had to bundle up.

Tia Ebit holding Emma after church.
Every week we  go to church as one big family and then we head over to my parent's house for lunch.  We have such a great time with the family on Sundays.

These boot are made for...

kicking ? Since she can't walk I guess kicking is the next best option.

We played a little dress up on Saturday.  Emma was such a good sport.  She didn't even mind the head band.

Aren't these boots hilarious?!  They were a Christmas gift from Jillian and her folks.  Emma loved them and never tried to kick them off or fuss.  They were pretty cozy on her feet and oh so cute!  Thank you Jillian!

And she's out... finally!

So our poor little gal, has some issues falling asleep, so we realized that the car is our magic trick. She loves getting all snuggled up in her car seat and going for a nightly drive. Doug and I have found some humor in it, and when I get in the car Doug asks, "our same route?" We also play my Mana CD and sing along with it. At least I sing along, but since Doug can't sing in Spanish he whistles. It is actually kind of a fun way to wind down as a family. Too bad it usually happens at 11:45 at night.

Emma's 1st trip to Nordstrom!

Mommy and Emma made a quick trip to the mall to buy a few gifts.  We left Daddy at home for some quiet time to get lots of work done, since he was working from home yesterday.  It was Emma's 2nd trip to the mall, but only her 1st time in Nordstrom.  Needless to say she loved it!

Look and how happy and content she looks just being in the store!

She is definitely mommy's girl!

It's gone!!!

In the middle of the night, I changed Emma's diaper and much to my surprise and disgust, her umbilical cord fell off.  I have a belly button phobia so I called Doug in for some moral support while I cleaned up the remaining yuck on her belly button.  Eventhough it freaks me out, I am actually really excited that it is gone, because now she will have a normal belly button.

Emma's 1st photo shoot...

Daddy trying to settle down Emma.

Thursday morning we went to get Emma's newborn pictures taken.  She did great for the 1st half, then a quick feeding and it was all over.  We were supposed to finish up with some family pictures, but no such luck.  The poor kiddo was in a terrible mood and nothing would settle her down.  We think her umbilical cord got caught on something and made her mad.  It wasn't quite ready to fall off but you could tell it was irritated.  Heidi our photographer was nice enough to invite us back to finish up our session on Tuesday when Emma feels more like herself.

Desert Family dinner at Filipi's...

Wednesday night we decided to have dinner with our Desert Family and introduce Doug's parents to our great group of friends.

Emma was asleep when we got there, so Wendy kept looking over to see if she was awake.  Lucky for Wendy Emma got hungry and woke up.

Bri and Noel

The rest of the gang.

Bates Nut Farm...

This week we made a quick stop at Bates Nut Farm.  It was Emma's 1st trip there.  It is a good thing that we live so close, because the little peanut was asleep the entire time. At least mom and dad got to get some goodies at the store.

Emma is 2 weeks old!

Time is flying by so fast, so crazy to think that our little gal is already 2 weeks old today!

Mommy thinks that Emma is a "Snappy Dresser," maybe that is because Mommy has such a great time picking out Emma's clothes.

Emma wanted some fresh air this afternoon.  Could there be anything cuter?!  Seeing this picture makes me realize what a great daddy Doug is for Emma.  It also makes me fall more and more in love with them!

It's a good thing she got some sunlight in today, because they say it is supposed to start raining tonight.

2 Week check up...

We had Emma's 2 week check up with Dr. McCormick this afternoon.  She is doing great with no complications.  Only one small concern from Dr. McCormick, she has only gained 4 oz. in the last week and they are supposed to gain an ounce a day.  She is 3 ounces shy so we have another weight check in next week just to be safe.  Crazy that she didn't gain more weight, because she is eating so well!

Mommy and Emma

Daddy and Emma, (so cute).  This was right before she threw up all over.  Crazy that NONE of it got on Daddy, because the 2 other times she has thrown up it has gone ALL OVER mommy!

Happy 60th Birthday Grandma Cherie!

What a treat to be able to spend her birthday while she was visiting us.  We had a little get together at my parent's house to celebrate Grandma Cherie's special day.

So I know this picture of Jacob is not related to Cherie's Birthday, but he was so cute showing us his sit ups.  I know that his gym enthusiast daddy must be proud.  He will have  a 6 pack in no time!

Emma's 1st day at church...

Emma all dressed and ready for church.  She was wearing such and adorable sweater made by my boss's old nanny, named Rosie from New Zealand.  Such a great gift from them!

Emma hanging out after mass. She behaved so well and hardly made a peep.

Jacob doing his favorite thing at church, climbing the tree (with Doug's help) after mass.

More family to meet!!!

Saturday evening we had dinner at my parent's house.  We had my grandparents, Doug's parents, & my uncle Mike all in town, so my uncle Ron, aunt Tracy, cousin Hayley and Doug's brother Andy joined the gang.

Aunt Tracy's turn with Emma

Andy holding Emma for the 1st time

A quick photo op with the sisters and their kiddos.  Too bad they weren't cooperating all that well.  Jacob was just stopped from picking his nose and Emma was getting fussy.  Oh well, at least Ebit and I were behaving!

We are so lucky to have such a great family come and meet our little girl.  She is already loved so much!

Emma's friend Audrey!

Saturday afternoon our good friends the Frazier's came over to visit and meet Emma.  If you don't remember from the December blog, they have a newborn as well.  Audrey was born 6 weeks ago and she and Emma are nearly 4 weeks apart.

Courtney is holding fussy Emma and Mark is holding Audrey.

Here are the two ladies.  Audrey was behaving so well for the pictures, too bad Emma got bored and yawned at us.

If you look closely Emma has a different onesie in each picture, she had a diaper blow out mid visit.  So many fun things going on in the Stephens home, blow outs and all!!!

Meeting Grandma Cherie & Grandpa Bob...

Doug's parents are in town from Seattle visiting.  They arrived on Saturday and will be here until Thursday morning.  Emma is already having a great visit with them here in town.

Grandma Cherie's 1st time holding Emma.

Grandpa Bob's 1st time holding Emma.

For any of you that are confused, yes Emma does have two Grandpa Bobs.  My dad is known as Papa Bob to help eliminate confusion.

Parent's night out...

Tonight Douggie and I went on our 1st post baby date.  We had a great time at dinner and knew that Emma was in great hands.  Great Grandma Margaret and Grandma Rose watched her for us.  I couldn't think of any better hands to leave her in.

I treated myself to my 1st glass of wine since Emma and wasn't too impressed, but at least dinner and Doug's company made up for it.

She was pretty easy for them, because she slept the entire time.

When we got back from dinner we hung around for the Grandpas to come back from the airport with uncle Mike.  He is in town from Seattle for a funeral this weekend. I am sure Emma will love her uncle Mike as much as I do.  Just watch out Emma for when he grabs you right above your knee and squeezes.  That always killed me as a kid.

Great Grandparents

Today my grand parents drove over from Arizona to visit Emma.

Great Grandma Margaret with Emma.

Great Grandpa Bob with Emma.

We are looking forward to a fun visit with the great grandparents!  I know that Emma will love them just as much as I do.

Jillian and Emma...

This afternoon Kristyn and baby Jillian came for a visit.  We had a great time talking mommy talk while the girls slept and ate.

Jillian is 8 weeks old and it is funny because they are nearly the same size.  Although in Emma's defense her dress is a little big and makes her look bigger than she is.

They look so cute together, I can't wait for them to be more alert and play together!

Thank you for the fun visit Jillian and Kristyn!

Emma's 1st bath!

Last night we gave Emma her 1st sponge bath.  I had given her wipe baths, but  this was her first bath.
We were a little worried she might pee on us, so we kept her diaper on until we were ready to clean down there.

She seemed to really like it!  I love the smell of a clean baby.

Emma is 1 week old!

Time flew by this week, it is so hard to believe that our little girl has already blessed our lives for a week.  We truly are two of the luckiest people in the world to have her as our daughter.

Only 1 week old, but she has been a busy bee:
-4 days in the hospital
- Lots of visitors
- 1st trip to the grocery store with mom
- 1st trip to visit Papa Bob at work
- 1st Doctors appointment (she has a clean bill of health!!!)
- 1st visit to mommy's office
- 1st visit to City Hall
- 1st visit to the mall to pick out a birthday gift

Tomorrow we have nothing planned, and mommy is looking forward to just hanging out at home! :)
Here is Emma in her Capricorn onesie, apparently she was born ambitious and loves to organize.

She is our little beauty queen!

Tia Ebit had these shirts made and they look adorable on the kiddos!
"I'm the big cousin Jacob" & "I'm the little cousin Emma"
So cute to see Jacob with his little cousin, they will become great friends.

Going Home...

Sunday January 11th
The whole family gets to go home!!! Hooray!!!
We were discharged at 9:30 am, and we couldn't be more happy to take our little girl home.
Her Doctor said that Emma is doing great!
All dressed, and yes she is the "new family favorite."

Could there be anything cuter?! She looks absolutely adorable in her car seat.

The Stephens family.

So I know that there is a lot of blogging going on, but while we were in the hospital we didn't get to update everyone on what was going on.
