Happy Birthday Ebit/Tia Lizzy

Today is my sister Ebit's Birthday!

Gotta love sweet little Ebit at age 3.

We had a little BBQ at our house this afternoon just for her.
Too bad it was 100°+ outside, so we decided to all hang out inside in the cool AC.

The Charger and Seahawk game was on TV.
Douggie was in heaven!

I made some cupcakes and cake pops just for Ebit.

We hope that you had a great day.
Happy Birthday to the best sister in the entire world!!!

Play and Learn class

Yesterday morning we went for our 2nd Play and Learn class, and guess what, we actually played and learned. Our teacher actually showed up for this class, turns out she completely spaced it and forgot about the first one.

Ms. Marla is a great teacher for both the kids and for the parents.
She watched the kids all play together and gave the parents some great tips.
We are looking forward to next week's class!

Quick visit to LA

Douggie was traveling this week, so I decided to invite myself along for part of the trip.

Emma was lucky enough to stay with Abuelita and Papa while we were gone.

She even packed her own bag.
She saw me packing her real overnight bag and she went and got this little bag.
She picked out her own items to put inside; a mixing bowl, a wooden spoon and of course Dr. Pepper lip gloss.

Douggie left super early in the morning.
I worked for a few hours and then joined him by taking the trains up.
Sprinter: from San Marcos to Oceanside

Amtrak: from Oceanside to LA Union station

I even treated myself to a beer and chips.
And the strange lady behind me treated me to her singing... loud singing.

Metro: From Union Station to Wilshire/Western stop

Douggie was held up at work so I decided to walk around for a bit.
Well that bit turned in to 3 hours and nearly 7 miles.
I just kept walking because some of the area was sketchy so I walked until it got nicer.
I ended up in Beverly Hills by the time he came to meet me.

Walking for 3 hours in flats = sore feet!

We met up with Madana and Matt for dinner.
Matt is off to Montana on Monday, where he will be the best Dentist Montana has ever seen!

He bought Emma a UCLA bear that plays the fight song.
He said he wanted it to remind her of him.
I bet Douggie and Emma will play with it and think of him often.

We will miss him tons and hopefully we can go visit him sometime soon!

JuJu, shopping, a bump on the head, a haircut and urgent care

All of this in one day.

It started out with us watching JuJu and taking him to school in the morning.
Abuelita had a funeral to go to, so Emma and I stepped in to drop him off.

After we dropped him off, Emma fell asleep and we went shopping.
I really love shopping with Emma, but I love it even more when she is napping.

Emma went back to Abuelita's while I finished up a few errands.

I went back to pick her up and my mom told me that Emma had tripped and fell.
She fell backward and hit her head on a book shelf.
My poor mom felt terrible, but of course I knew it wasn't her fault.
Emma is a klutz, just like her Mama.
She ended up getting a big bump on the back of her head.

I had already planned to meet up with Douggie to get Emma's 5th haircut.
Since Emma seemed to be feeling ok, we went ahead and got it cut.
This time we went to Douggie's favorite lady, and she did a great job.

Then we started to notice that Emma was getting really sleepy.
We weren't sure if it was the bump or just because she didn't nap very long earlier???
We called the nurse line and they suggested that we bring Emma in right away.
They said that we shouldn't take any chances and we should get her checked out just for piece of mind.

She was asleep the entire time we waited.
And she wasn't a happy camper when we woke her up to be weighed in.

We did make sure that it was ok for her to fall asleep, just in case you were worried.

After a bit, Emma perked up and was more like her self.
I think we washed her pa (paci) about 10 times. Not sure why, but she loves doing this.

They did lots of little tests (watching her walk, moving her neck, checking for bleeding in her ears and so on).

They told us that Emma looked great and just has a mild hematoma.
They said that we should keep a close eye on her for the next few days.
We were also told that we need to wake her throughout the night to check on her. We are not looking forward to this. :(

We are thrilled to hear that all Emma has is a bad little bump.
I guess the nurse was right and it did give us piece of mind bringing her in.

Weekend Recap

Saturday:
We went to our very first "Play and Learn" class.
Emma proudly wore her Cougar gear for Cougar football Saturday.
It must have been a good luck outfit, because they won!!!

Mama was only able to stop in for a bit, Dada kindly stepped in to play with Emma.

Funny thing about the class... it wasn't really a class because the instructor never showed up.
It was held at a City Facility, so since I knew my way around, I decided to ask the staff person if we could borrow the play time toys. Turns out that they were a hit and all of the kids had fun playing even with out the instructor.

What better way to end the evening then a little nude swinging?!

Emma was so proud to show Mama and Dada her "ninnies."

Sunday:
We had some good friends over for a little backyard dinner party.

Jillian, Rachel and their folks joined us.

The kid table.

The adult table.

The moms and the dads took turns eating and keeping an eye on the little ladies.

Yummmmm!
Jillian was kind enough to bring pie and ice cream for dessert.

I think that Emma and Rachel were stoked she did, it was a hit!

Thanks for coming over for a fun evening.
We had such a great time watching the girls play.

20 Months

Our little gal is 20 months old today!
She is such a big kid now, and we are loving every minute of this age.
She is becoming such a funny little girl, and it is so much fun to watch her personality develop.

Our new outside toy is Play doh.
We are still working on actually playing with it and not eating it.

Umm, who's the big kid?!
Something about this little girl walking to the car in the morning, she looks like such a big girl.
She wouldn't turn around and smile for me. She is such an independent little girl.

Here are a few new things this month:
- She has started saying "mine" and she uses it often. Not very happy about this one

- Can name all of the Baba (YGG) characters

- She counts when unloading her toys. She counts 1...2...3...4 as she pulls out a new toy. So far just up to 4

- Loves to dance and spin around

- Can do dances she learns on TV and does them on request

- She loves to watch JuJu being silly and laughs her little head off

- LOVES raspberries, strawberries, mandarin oranges and bananas

- LOVES candy and asks for it by saying "mama" because she knows that I am a sucker and give in way more then dada

-She is such a polite girl and almost always says "peese" (please) and "gank you" (thank you)

- Brushes her teeth at least 3 times a day and loves it

- She really loves playing with mama's make up and shoes

- She has had a total of 2 time outs so far

- She still loves to cuddle and we love it

- She can reach all of the light switches and really enjoys turning them off and on.

- She is very resourceful and when she can't reach something she pushes over the cat's stool/house to step on

-Most of the time she enjoys having her picture taken and then asks to see the picture right away

- She has the best little curls and we can't wait to watch them grow

I can't say it enough, but we LOVE this little gal so much!

Backyard update

We finished up the rest of the backyard projects.

Remember this...

Well now it looks like this...
And I LOVE it.
Emma loves it as well.
She stores all of her outside toys in it.

We hung some mason jars.
Right now they have candles, but we can change them up and put flowers.

We also added an outdoor rug.
Our little sitting area is complete.
We have already enjoyed lots of family time out there relaxing and playing.

Just Mama and Emma

Last Thursday and Friday Douggie was traveling for work.
Mama and Emma took advantage of some serious girl time, and we had a blast!

Thursday evening we went shopping, shopping and then some more shopping.
Emma was a dream!!!

Then Friday morning we woke up with a new pet in the house...
a tiny baby lizard.
He was not a welcome new pet, so I gathered all of my courage to catch the guy.
After a few failed attempts, I thought about just leaving it and letting Douggie do it when he got home. Then reality sunk in and I realized that if I did that, who knows where the darn thing would be hours later and where he could be hiding. Thoughts of me sleeping and this darn thing crawling on me made me realize that I HAD to catch it.
I called both my dad and Doug for some moral support.
I think they got some good laughs.

I caught it with a cup, then I slipped a piece of paper under the cup and set him down on the counter so that I could open the door.

When I went to pick him up and throw him out, I didn't hold the cup close enough to the paper and the darn thing escaped on to the counter.

I screamed and screamed and then... BAM, I smacked that cup down on the counter and caught the bugger.

Only problem was... I cut off part of his tail in the process.
DISGUSTING!
Did you know that when you cut off their tail, it still moves on it's own?
Well it does and it freaked me out.

I carefully slipped the paper under him, held it close and then released the thing outside.

Then I throughly sanitized the counter and the floor.
All the while, Emma was content as can be watching Baba (Yo Gabba Gabba) and had no clue what was going on.

While mama gets ready Emma loves to put on a little make-up herself.
Don't worry, she just pretends, I think she actually enjoys unloading my make-up drawer more then playing with the make-up.

Then it was time for walking in mama's shoes, another favorite morning activity.

After all the fun we had at home we headed to the doughnut place for a "bite" as Emma says.

We then went to Abuelita's, mama ran a few errands, we picked up JuJu after school, we picked up Dada, and had dinner at Cheeburger Cheeburger.
Such a fun time with my little gal!
