What a difference a year makes.

May 31, 2011
8:30 am we were on top of the world.
We were at our 12 week appointment waiting to hear our sweet baby’s heartbeat.
We were 12 weeks 5 days.

9:04 am we felt as if our worlds had ended.
We were devastated to learn that our sweet baby was no longer with us.
We were sitting in our truck trying to figure out how we would move on.
How would we tell our family and friends and most importantly how would we tell Emma?

We had already shared our excitement with so many.
We had already seen our little gummy bear.
We had already heard our baby’s sweet heartbeat at 8 weeks.
We were broken.

Here is our little baby at 8 weeks last year. The little baby we lost.

May 31, 2012
We are 37 + weeks.
We are celebrating my last day of work before maternity leave.
We are eagerly awaiting the birth of our sweet little Elle.
We are so ready to be a family of four.
We can’t wait until Emma meets her little sister.
We count our blessings every day.

We may still feel broken at times,
but now we have something to celebrate.

I love these two!

Almost every evening in our house Emma asks her daddy to dance.
I love them dancing!

Emma is always dressed up for the dance parties.
They are so darn sweet together.

I love how much Emma loves her daddy and I love the huge smile on Douggie's face while he is dancing with his little gal.

Our weekend

We had a pretty mellow weekend around here.
It was so nice to just hang around, do projects at home and spend time with family.

We had lots of snuggle time.

Douggie washed the car and Emma supervised.

The two crazies decided to take the pink car for a little ride.

We also went to a watch 3 of Victoria's softball games throughout the weekend.

 Victoria is pretty darn talented!

Her team ended up winning the entire tournament for her age division!
Way to Go Victoria!!!

So sad that our long weekend it almost over, but we enjoyed every relaxing minute of it.

Elle's crib

We have been working on some finishing touches to the rooms.
I will show more pictures soon.

For now, here is a picture of Elle's crib bumpers...
I am in LOVE with how sweet, girly, cute and of course safe they are.
These are individual slat bumpers, so they are more safe then the regular kind.

Can't wait to have our sweet little Elle sleeping in this crib!

35 Week Appointment

On Friday we had our 35 week appointment.
Everything is going great and there is not much to report.

Today I am 36 weeks and can hardly believe that we have just 4 weeks left!

My energy levels are almost non existent by the time 4 pm hits. Douggie is pretty sweet and lets me get a little nap in most evenings.

No swelling in my feet.

My belly button is in an in between phase. Not an innie anymore but not quite an outie, it is more of a flattie.

In the 10 days since my last appointment I gained another pound. Total weight gain to date is 16 pounds.

Our next appointment is this Friday.

Elle is head down and doesn't have much room to move. She is still pretty active, but I can tell she is much bigger now.

I am at the ready for it to be over phase. Not because I am not enjoying the pregnancy, but because I am so ready to meet our little Elle.

Here is a 3D picture from Friday.
It is a bit hard to see, but you can see her little face with one eye closed and her foot over the other eye.
I can also see some full cheeks and I can wait to kiss them!

Getting the rooms ready

We have been really busy getting Emma's new big girl room and Elle's nursery ready.
We have checked off a lot from our to do list, but still have some more to go.

This past Saturday was painting day.
Thanks to Papa and Abuelita for coming over to help.

Monday night was Emma's first night in her big girl bed.
She loves it!

I can't thank Douggie enough for all of his hard work and heavy lifting!
He has been so good and so patient, even when I change my mind a few times.

Way to go Emma!

Tonight we went out for a some ice cream to celebrate Emma's great progress report from school.

She has been doing so well in preschool this year and has shown so much improvement since the fall.
Some of her strengths are...
- Enjoys books and stories
-Follows directions
-Listens when others speak
-Plays well with others
-Helps clean up
-Accepts changes in routine
-Has great self help skills (going potty on her own)
-Speaks in complete sentences
-Can speak clearly

Her teacher wrote... Emma is a really good friend and helper in the class. She always has a smile on her face and has so much fun in the classroom.

We are so proud of you Emma!

Jacob's school performance

Yesterday evening we attended Jacob's 1st grade performance.
All of the 1st graders sang songs and even danced a bit for their "Play Ball" show.

Way to go JuJu!

You will be missed!

Andrea Cenderelli
October 4, 1970 - May 5, 2012
This afternoon we attended the funeral of our good friend Andrea.
He passed away very unexpectedly last week.
He will be missed by everyone who knew him.

I will miss his Italian accent, his laugh, his sense of humor and his dance moves the most.

Here he is pictured with his wife Kristin, their daughter Juliana, and their son Nicolas.

Mother's Day

I hope all of you mothers out there had a great Mother's Day.

I sure did!
Douggie made breakfast.
Emma and Douggie gave me some presents.
We went to church.
Spent a little time at my parent's house.
And then went to my Uncle Ruben and Aunt Kelleen's house for a get together.

The weather was beautiful and the kids spent all afternoon in the pool.

I am so thankful for such a wonderful day with family!

The Flower Fields

Saturday evening we went to the flower fields in Carlsbad.
We go every spring and it is always so much fun.

Doug's favorite part is the people watching.
My favorite part is sweet pictures of Emma.
Emma's favorite part is the kettlecorn.

Click HERE for a look back at the flower fields.

Go Victoria!

We went to Victoria's playoff game this weekend.

She did great at bat.
And of course she was an amazing pitcher and pitched the entire game.

Emma had a great time cheering Victoria's team on.
Way to go Victoria!

Working on her new room

Emma will be moving into her big sister room soon.
But before it is ready, she has to help us with lots of projects.
Last week she helped sand her new dresser.
I found it at an antique store and it was perfect, except it was blue.

Doug has already finished painting it white and put on the new knobs.
It looks perfect! I can't wait to put it in Emma's new room!
