Happy 30th Maggie!!!

Saturday night 5/29/10, we celebrated our good friend Maggie's 30th Birthday!
I have known Maggie, since we went to CCD (Sunday school) together way back in 1st grade.

She had an 80's themed party, and everyone was good sports and dressed up for the occasion.

She had it at a friend's house, and man... they have the most amazing backyard I have seen. It is huge and so pretty. I am just sad I didn't get better pictures of it.

Little Emma even sported an 80's outfit.
Too bad she pulled her side pony out, it definitely finished off the outfit.

There was even an Uncle Jesse/John Stamos shrine.

I was in charge of the centerpieces, and I had the best time making them.
They weren't the kind that you would look at and say, "man those are pretty." They were the kind that had stuff jam packed and when you pulled something out you would say, "I remember these."

Sarah out did herself again, and made a super fun Ms. Pacman Cake and cupcakes.

Ron, being the super sweet brother-in-law that he is, decided to re-arrange the candle letters to say something funny.

"The Big Ho"

Poor Ethan wanted cake so bad...

and he loved every single bite of it.

The birthday girl dancing the night away.

When Maggie was telling me about her party, she told me that she wanted an intimate party where everyone had fun. Well Maggie, I think you achieved exactly what you were wanting.

And for those of you who may be wondering why I am calling Melissa, Maggie, it is her nick name from high school days at the sports center. I guess I just don't want to give it up.

Heart Concert

Friday night (5/28/10) we headed over to Harrah's Rincon, to go to the Heart concert with some good friends. When we were planning the concert, Stepheni thought it would be a good idea to stay the night, boy was she right! We had a blast!!!

Had a little pre-concert BBQ, yummy!

A little s.p. of Douggie and me.

I am not so sure that shots at the after party were such a great idea, but hey it was fun while it lasted.

Stepheni and me.

Brucie and Diane

One of my favorite Heart songs... Alone.

I will tell you a funny story, and man does it make me sound stupid, or maybe just tipsy?
♫ Music intro to song playing ♫
Stepheni: Oh Marie... I love this song, don't you?!
Marie: Which song is it?
Stepheni: You'll recognize it in a second.
Ann Wilson of Heart: This next one is called "These Dreams"
Marie: Nope Stepheni, I don't know "Bee Stings"
Stepheni: Marie, she didn't say bee stings, she said These Dreams.

***A special Thank you to Tia Lizzy, Tio Omar and JuJu for taking care of Emma and having a super fun slumber party.

Marching

So it is no secret that YGG is still one of Emma's favorite shows.
Something about it just makes her want to get up and dance, or in this case, march.

Little miss manners...

We are working hard on our manners around here.
Our first manners word is PLEASE, and as you can see in the video, Emma is doing really well. :)
Thank you, you are up next!

Emma met Dada's friend Dave!

After swim class we headed over to Sublime Pizza to meet up with Dave and his friend Spencer.
Dave is Douggie's good friend since the 5th grade, and he was in town visiting.
This was Dave's 1st time meeting Emma.

And wouldn't you know it... someone decided to take an extra long nap after swim class.

Emma woke up in time to take a group picture with Dave.

And play with his sunglasses.

And Dave... no we won't let you borrow her so you can go pick up some ladies.
I know that is what you were thinking.
A single guy like Dave + a cute kid like Emma = a lady magnet!

Thank you for coming and meeting up with us!
Emma can't wait to see you again!

Emma' and Dada's last swim class!!!

Yesterday afternoon was the last swim class.
Emma and Dada had a great time, despite the chilly windy weather out.

Thank you Miss Bree for a great class!

1 2 3 JUMP!!!

Can you find the 2 things wrong with the following picture?
1. What parent brings a glass bottle to a pool?! That is a huge no no.
2. Plucking your eyebrows while your kids are at swim class... just weird!

There were only 3 parents & children in the last class.
I think that the chilly weather scared some of the parents off.

A little backyard fun

Yesterday morning we played out in the backyard for a bit and I wanted to share a few of my favorite pictures.

Showing a little crack while pulling some weeds.
Mama and Dada haven't kept up on the weeds and so Emma felt like she better take care of them.

Looking so grown up!!!

Wee... Emma loves her swing!

Palm Springs

We have been away from blogging for a bit, but I promise this post will make up for the absence... get ready for a ton of pictures!
We had such a jam packed trip, I didn't want to leave anything out.

We were even lucky enough to have Papa Bob, Abuelita Rose and JuJu (Jacob) join us for a bit of the trip.

We went to this place for dinner, and my folks were kind enough to watch Emma so just Douggie and I went.
For those of you who may not recognize this place, it is also known as the Hotel that Jesse's father owned in Saved by the Bell. And trust me I had a few SBTB quotes up my sleeve for the occasion.

Took a boat ride and saw

Then ate yummy food here .
I have eaten there one other time, but I was preggo with Emma and didn't get to enjoy one of these.

Douggie was a champ and caught a shrimp from 30 feet away.

We swam lots and lots.

Cuddled with Papa Bob.

Had messy messy push-ups and LOVED them!

Went to the Crab Pot and had a yummy feast.

Bath time with JuJu

Ate at Babe's, and boy was that yummy!

Emma loved it so much that she didn't want to give up her spoon, she sucked every last bit of flavor off of it.

Douggie BBQ'd up some steaks for us.
We met a nice neighbor named Nelson, who gave us some of his homemade BBQ sauce and it was so good.

Walked around downtown.

And had some Margaritas and Mexican food at Las Casuelas.

We went to the Children's Museum...

where we grocery shopped and...

rode motorcycles.

Took walks on the golf course.

Rode the aerial tram.

But didn't go any further than the observation deck, because the pathway looked like this .
Something about the steep rocky paths told us that it wouldn't have been a good place to go walking with a 16 month old.

Took Emma for a ride on the boats at the Desert Springs Marriot.

Fell and skinned her knee.

It is amazing how fast you can feel better with a change of clothes, a band aid and some juice.

Emma learned a new word on our trip... Car.
And she said it over and over while at Ruby's.

I don't think we could have packed anything else in to our little trip.

Sorry for the delay in posting this, I have been trying to get back in the swing of things around here.
