We have a big girl!

This is the last picture you will see of Emma in her crib with a pa (paci).
Today was a HUGE day for us here.

She dumped all of her pa's in to a baggie.

Every single one of them.

And we took them to the babies at the hospital that needed them.
Before you totally freak out, they aren't going to actually use them.
Emma just had to have a reason to give them up.
She loves babies and so we convinced her that there are so many babies at the hospital that need her pacis to go night night.
She loved the idea!
She handed over her baggie of pacis to the nurses and we are officially done with them.

Just so the nurses wouldn't think that we were completely nuts, we brought them some cookies and candy.
We made sure to give the goodies to the NICU nurses, because we have such an appreciation for them. When Emma was born, she was in the NICU for 3 days. There we were two brand new parents with a sick kiddo and those nurses were amazing. So understanding and caring.
We were only there for a short time, but they were so good to us.

As we walked away we explained to them to feel free to trash the pacis as soon as we were out of sight..

Then we took her to the cafeteria for some special big girl juice as a treat.

When we got home Douggie transformed her crib into a big girl bed.

Emma gladly helped.

She was thrilled to see her transformed bed.

Tonight at bed time it was a smooth transition.
She quietly asked for her pa one time and then I reminded her that the babies have them now. Emma doesn't need them anymore because she sleeps in a big girl bed. She quietly said "okay."

It did take her a little longer to fall asleep tonight, but overall a very successful night as a big girl with no tears.
Fingers crossed that we continue to do well with this transition.

Wow! Congrats Miss Emma. Emma is such a sweetie to give up her pacifiers to the babies.
