Our girls weekend in Washington DC

Friday at 6:30 am we were off to DC!
Emma and I have been before, but this was a first for Liz, Cris, Anyssa and Elle.

We didn't rent a car so we relied on public transportation the entire trip.

After a long day of flying, we checked in to our hotel.
The location was perfect. It was in Alexandria and it was just across the street from the Metro station.

Saturday morning we took the metro to the trolley stop.
Emma was still really tired, but she did great.

We rode the trolley and hopped on and off all day for the 20 stop tour.

 The White House!

There was a really brave squirrel in front of the White House fence. I told Emma to be careful and make sure that the squirrel didn't get her chips.
Well he did go after them. And  part of me feels like a bad mom, because instead of helping her off the little step, I took a picture instead.
Lucky for Emma Tía Crissy was there to help her down.
Emma then scolded the squirrel and told him to get his own chips.

A view of the Washington Monument and the tidal basin.

 The Jefferson Memorial

Tía Lizzy was a saint and carried little Elle around all day.

 The Lincoln Memorial
I love the look on Elle's face. :)

On the Metro after a long day of seeing sights.

 My two lovely little ladies!

Emma just had to have this pink bunny hat.
She couldn't stop talking about it all day.

After dinner we went to the hotel's indoor pool.

Sunday morning we were up ready to go bright and early.
We did our own self guided tour.

We started out at the American History Museum.

Then off to see the monument up close.
 Followed by the WWII Memorial.

It was so moving to be there on Veteran's Day weekend.
It made us all feel so proud and appreciative when we saw the many Veterans around DC.

 Cris and Anyssa

Gotta love sisters!

After lunch Tía Lizzy and Tía Crissy went to the Holocaust Museum.

I took the girls to the grassy area nearby and they played and chased the falling leaves.

Sweet Elle and Tía Lizzy on the Metro ride back to the hotel.

Monday morning we got ready so fast and rushed off to the Airport.

Thank you so much to Liz, Cris and Anyssa for all of their help with the girls!!!
Thank you to Elle for being an ANGEL.
Thank you to Emma for doing so well on the trip even with her yucky little cold.
Thank you to Douggie, Dave and Abuelita for the rides to and from the airport.

Originally we were making the to meet my friend Lisa's new little baby girl.
They ended up making a trip to the west coast for a funeral and we didn't get to see them.
So sad that we missed meeting up with Lisa and her family. And so sorry for their loss, but so glad they were able to be with all of their family during this tough time.

It was such a fun trip and we all had such a great time!
