On Monday morning we took Emma in for the 2nd set of her 12 month shots.
She had too many at her 12 month appointment so they decided to split them up.
While we were there Dr. McCormick came in to check in on us.
She played with Emma and said that she was "so independent and active."
Then she pulled out her stethoscope and light and checked the little kid out.
Mouth and throat looked good, and she is getting in her 1 year molars.
Nose looked good.
But then she looked in the ears, several times. Turns out that Emma has a double ear infection.
She was put on antibiotics and seemed to be doing ok.
We felt terrible! We had NO idea that she was sick. We thought that she was a little fussy because of her molars coming in.
And to top it off, she still had to get 3 shots.
We ended up taking her back in today because she had a fever all afternoon and evening yesterday and ALL night. Poor thing wasn't her self.
I think that we felt so bad for missing the ear infections, that we wanted to make sure that nothing else was wrong that we missed.
Same news from today's appointment.
She is still on her antibiotics and has her good moments.
But poor little thing... it stinks to see her sick.

Poor little Emma. It is so hard being a parent when your child can't tell you what is wrong. Their symptoms can always be three different things...glad she is hanging in there. Get well soon Emma!
Where is that parental instruction book when you need it? Oh, that's right there isn't one. Sarah was right on!!!
On the plus side she has her cousin Breanna beat to heck on being the prettiest granddaughter in the whole world. Love those pigtails!!!
Wow dad, are you trying to start a war with Aunt Linda and Uncle Greg about who has the best looking grandkid?
