What a week!

It was a crazy week around here.

Monday we had dinner at my parents' home with GG Bob, GG Margaret, Uncle Ron, Aunt Tracy, Claire, Ebit and Jacob.
Poor Emma had an upset stomach so Doug stayed home with her.

Tuesday we had my department's annual golf tournament.
I worked a crazy long day and it was crazy hot.
A fire also started in nearby 4S Ranch.

Wednesday GG Bob, GG Margaret, and my parents came over for dinner.
We had a great time with them!
Unfortunately there was another fire nearby in San Marcos.
This one was much closer and we watched it from our backyard.
It got worse as the evening went on.

Thursday school was cancelled.
When I told Emma she asked, "but when will I get to see my boyfriend again?"

Doug went to work in Orange County and I went in to work as well.
The park I work in was taken over as a staging area for Cal Fire, which made for an interesting morning.
I got a call from my mom and we received notice from the Sheriff's Department that we needed to evacuate.
The fire in San Marcos was terrible and grew quickly because of the high winds and the 100+ degree temperatures.
I raced home and my mom took the girls to her home.
I packed up and called Doug.
He raced home from Orange County.
I was called in to work the evacuation shelter. One of the "perks" of working for the City.
Doug joined everyone else at my parents' home.
Thankfully we were able to return home that night and we were safe.

Friday things settled down with the fires and the temperatures and wind also died down.
I was able to enjoy a fun day with my ladies.

We are so happy that the fires are all near fully contained.
At one point during the week, there were 9 fires burning in San Diego County.
We are also so thankful for all of the fire fighters and law enforcement.

Mother's Day

I had a wonderful Mother's Day!
The best part was that I got to spend my entire day with these two lovely ladies.

Bri's 30th Birthday!

After the Mother's Day celebration with Emma, Doug and I raced up to Disneyland.
We met up with Bri and the rest of the group to celebrate her 30th Birthday!
We were so excited to have her home for a visit.

Saturday evening we headed up to the Jeansonne home to celebrate Bri again.
Elle found some shot glasses and decided to indulge.
** Don't worry, they were empty and unused.**

We had a wonderful time celebrating with Bri and we were so sad she had to leave.
We miss her lots and need to schedule a trip out to visit her in Tennessee.

Mother's Day Celebration at Emma's Preschool

On the Friday before Mother's Day, I went to Emma's Mother's Day Celebration at school.
I had a wonderful time with Emma!

We made projects together, had brunch, got presents and I loved every second of my morning with her!

She made this beautiful frame and wrote a poem about me.
Some funny parts from the poem...
My mommy's hair is a little brown and a little black and she just cut it hair short.
Her skin is like mine, but she has moles that giggle when she swims.
My mommy has a belly that is a little big, but it is getting flat.
She likes to take naps on the couch.

Oh Emma, I love you so much!

Relay for Life

This past weekend we participated in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.
We were so proud to come together and support my dad in his fight against cancer.
It is a 24 hour relay, where someone from the team is walking for the entire 24 hours.

We were honored to have Wendy and her mother Claudia, both cancer survivors, join our team for the opening ceremony and the Survivor's Lap.

All those years of my dad supporting me in pageants paid off. He was the only one with his Survivor sash on correctly. :)
So proud and so happy that everyone was healthy enough to take part in the very first lap, the Survivor Lap.

 We had some amazing supporters!
Our morning walkers, the Winter family, the Lewko family and Peter and Sue.

Our afternoon walkers, the Prieto family, Rob & Paul, and Connie.

Our evening walkers, a few of my Miss Escondido girls, Bill & Brigitte and the Cenderelli & Dean families.

Our team dedicated 9 Luminarias in honor of and memory of those with cancer.

Our night time walkers, Mike & Stepheni, the Krstovski family and Bob & Barbara.

Our LATE night walkers, Nate & Sarah, the Cervantes family and the Prieto family.

Our team enjoying the closing ceremony.

All of these crazy people camped out on the field all night.
We all walked together and finished the final lap with my dad "Papa!"

It was such an amazing, exhausting, and emotional event.
We are so thankful for all of our team members and walkers, and all of our generous supporters.
We were so thankful that my dad was feeling so well and was able to take part in walking the first and the final lap.

Our team raised $2,450 as of today!!!
The entire relay raised over $48,300!!!
We were so happy to be a part of such an amazing cause.

Some team awards I would like to award for Papa's Pals are...
Most laps walked goes to Omar
Most supportive goes to Doug
Best co-team captain and planner goes to Ebit
Best helpful watching the kids goes to my mom
Best team mascot goes to PAPA
