38

Today Emma turned 38 weeks!

She is pretty much the best thing that has ever happened to Douggie and me! We love her to pieces and love watching her grow. Although she seems to be growing a bit too fast these days. She is becoming more and more of a big girl and less and less of a baby.

So cute rubbing her eyes.
I caught her waking up from a nap this afternoon.

Awake... well sort of.

Meet Sweetie the Sea Horse, our new best friend.
She was a gift from Papa Bob and Abuelita Rose, and this little toy is probably our favorite. Sweetie plays sweet soothing lullabys when you press her tummy. Those soothing lullabys are wonderful and help put Emma to bed with ease. She snuggles up to Sweetie, and drifts off in to dream land.

Thank you Abuelita and Papa!

Happy 38 Emma!

Happy Birthday Tía Lizzy!!!

Yesterday was Ebit's (Tía Lizzy/Liz) birthday.
Since they had a family fun filled day planned at Sea World, we celebrated it today.

We went to lunch at Sublime Pizza in 4S Ranch, where they have 16 different kinds of Mac and Cheese and 16 different kinds of Grilled Cheese Sandwiches and of course Pizza, all crazy good food! :),

Abuelita Rose and the Prieto family were able to join us in celebrating.

The birthday girl with baby David.

Jacob and Anyssa.

The yummy homemade cookie sandwich, I tried a tiny bite and it was so so good!

Happy Birthday, to the world's Best Sister that I could ask for, the best Sister in Law that Douggie could ask for and the best Tía that Emma could ever have.

Knotts Scary Farm

Friday afternoon we drove up to Buena Park to hang out with Mike and Stepheni.
They were celebrating their 12th wedding anniversary and we went to Knott's Scary Farm.
K.S.F is the after hours haunted house version of the theme park , full of mazes and fun.

We had a great time with M & S! We don't get to see them often enough, so we had a lot to catch up on.

Stepheni and Mike at dinner with Snoopy.

Abuelita Rose and Emma came up with us and had a slumber party in the hotel while we went to the park.

Emma and Snoopy at dinner.

She was so cute with him, she kept petting his soft fur.

Thank you so much Abuelita for watching little Emma!

Happy Anniversary Mike and Stepheni!

Emma's update

We saw Dr. McCormick on Friday morning to follow up with her and Emma's UTI.

Good news: She said that Emma looks as perfect as can be, despite the UTI.
She even said that Emma is looking a bit chunky, not chunky by most kids standards, but "chunky for Emma" she said.

She also commented on how active Emma was, and that she had great hand eye coordination.

Bad news: I guess I was kidding myself to think that UTI's were common. Apparently they aren't common in kiddos Emma's age. Dr. McCormick wants Emma to undergo some testing just in case. She is concerned that Emma might have Reflux. Here is some info about reflux, courtesy of familydoctor.org:

What is vesicoureteral reflux?
When urine from the bladder flows back up into the kidneys, this is called vesicoureteral reflux. Urine normally goes only one way. When urine flows back up from the bladder to the kidneys, germs can get into the kidneys. This can lead to infection in the urinary tract. If
reflux isn't noticed, the repeated infections can lead to scarring and disease of the kidneys. Reflux happens in about one-third of children who have urinary tract infections (UTIs).

Her concern with Emma, is because she is young, and too young for UTI's to be considered
'normal'.

We have an appointment in October at Children's Hospital for an ultrasound and VCUG. Here is a little info about the tests, once again courtesy of familydoctor.org.

What kind of tests will the doctor perform?

There are several tests that look at the urinary tract. An ultrasound of the kidneys and bladder is a painless test that gives your doctor a good look at the kidneys and bladder.

An X-ray called a voiding cystourethrogram (VCUG) is a good way to look at the bladder, kidneys and ureters. A small tube is put into your child's bladder. A liquid is passed through the tube into the bladder. This liquid shows up on the X-ray. X-rays are then taken as the bladder fills and while your child urinates and are used to see if your child has reflux.

I am for sure dreading these tests, but if it will help little Emma, then I guess that is all that matters.

Here is Emma looking so cute getting weighed in.
She weighs a whopping 18 lbs. 3 oz. (25th percentile)
And can I tell you, that I love that her hair is growing in, it looks so cute and wispy. :)

We will keep you posted on her test results.

37 weeks and feeling better!!!

Emma is 37 weeks, and good news, she is feeling better!!!
She is not back to her usual self just yet, but you can clearly see she is doing a lot better.

Some one passed out on our walk this evening.

Silly little girl... she had the hiccups and just looked so adorable.

Update on little sick E

We got a call from the urgent care office this afternoon and they informed us that Emma does have a urinary tract infection.
They prescribed some antibiotics for her, and she doesn't seem to mind the medicine.

I thought it was kind of odd that Emma had a UTI, because she is so young, but here are a few facts about UTIs:
About 8 percent of girls and 2 percent of boys will have at least one urinary tract infection (UTI) during childhood.
For many babies, an unexplained fever is the only symptom. About 5 percent of babies and toddlers who have a fever without other symptoms have a UTI.

In some cases, a baby may show other symptoms — with or without a fever — including:

• Crying or another indication that urination is painful
• Odd-smelling urine
• Cloudy or bloody urine (luckily this hasn't happened)
• Unexplained, persistent irritability (YUP, this was a huge giveaway that something was up).
Vomiting (happened in the doctor's office and she never spits up anymore).
• Refusal to eat
(only has been drinking her bottle and snacking on puffs, doesn't want any baby food).

Looking absolutely adorable eating some snacks and watching a little Wonder Pets.
She did pretty well today, and we are keeping our fingers crossed for a better night then the past few.

So looks like we weren't over reacting parents after all.
I hate seeing the little gal not feeling well, but we are so glad that this is all it is.

Poor little girl.

So yesterday afternoon was Emma's 1st trip to urgent care, and there was nothing urgent about this place. We got there at 5:05 pm and waited patiently outside. We were told it was over a 2 hour wait. Which it was, because we didn't get called until 7:15 or so. Then we didn't leave until 9 pm to go home.

Emma has been running a low fever since Friday night. She has been sleeping terribly and didn't even nap much more than 15 minutes or so at a time. She seemed perfectly happy at times and then like a switch, she would all of the sudden turn to being super cranky and crying. She was also rubbing her ear, so we thought it could be an ear infection.

We got all of her vitals and stats, and good news no fever at the time. The nurse said that the Motrin that I gave her earlier was doing it's job.

From this picture you couldn't tell she was sick, but trust me, all of the circles we walked outside could tell you otherwise. Douggie, my mom, my dad and I kept walking in circles pushing Emma in her stroller. The second we stopped, she would start crying.

We saw the doctor and she checked Emma's ears and ruled out an ear infection, silly parents for trying to diagnose the kiddo.
She thought there was a chance that she could have a urinary tract infection, so she ordered a catheter, which was pretty devastating. So after about a 45 minute wait it all went down hill.
Poor Emma started screaming as they put the iodine on her, then came the catheter and the nurse missed the 1st time and didn't collect enough urine. She tried again and bam, tons of urine that time, that some how ended up all over Emma and mama.
They said that the initial test they ran came back slightly positive, but that they were going to run it in the lab and let us know. They didn't give her any antibiotics yet, because they wanted to wait to see what the lab said.

They said that it could also be a virus and to keep an eye on her and see if she gets worse.

So cozy in bed this morning with dada and even Corona.
She had another rough night sleeping so early this morning she came into bed with us.

I know that all of you parents are probably thinking, what typical 1st time parents we are over reacting, but trust me this kid isn't normally acting like this so we wanted to get her checked out.

She is still not herself, but we will keep our fingers crossed that she get better soon.

Baby David's Baptism

Yesterday morning we went to the baptism for Baby David.

My cousin Cris has an uncle Lucio, who is a priest, and they were lucky enough to have him come to perform the ceremony.

Emma loved looking at baby David, she must have thought he was one of her dolls.

Happy Birthday Nana!

Friday night we went out with the Jeansonne,Ray & Rose families to celebrate Nana's Birthday.
She may not be our real nana, but that is what we all call her.
She is the official desert family Nana.

We went to this yummy little cafe in Dal Mar called Americano.
I guess they have an inside to the restaurant as well, but I didn't even go inside. We all sat out on the patio seating and had a great time enjoying the sites and the ocean breeze.

Singing Happy Birthday.

After dinner we all headed over to Stephanie's house.
Let me tell you, this is the epitome of a girls house!
Everything is perfectly pink, cozy and just plain beautiful.

I snuck in a tour, and look at this closet!!!
She transformed the 3rd bedroom of her house in to this amazing closet.

Can you hear the angels singing... I was in heaven.
These were her everyday shoes, she still had another section of her dressy shoes.

So I am a day late... Emma is 36 weeks!

Yesterday Emma turned 36 weeks.
I didn't get a chance to blog last night, so I figured better late then never.

Emma loves bath time.
She gets so excited when dada squirts her with the water toys.
She even opens up her mouth to try and take a drink.

She is still constantly on the go! She has even discovered the stairs at Abuelita and Papa's house and loves to crawl up them, supervised of course.

Her current favorites are:
- Yo Gabba Gabba
- Watching Jacob play and act silly
- Visiting the Elmo Live doll at Target, (every time we go we stop to see him and she LOVES him). He is on sale now, so mama might have to break down and buy him.
- Bath time with dada.
- Emptying all of her toys from her toy bins.
- Chasing Corona and Rey Rey.
- And seeing a familiar face, she get so excited and lights up.

Last night while we went out, Abuelita Rose and Papa Bob watched our little girl.
She woke up when we picked her up, but then passed out seconds after we got her in her seat.

Scott and Meghan
Last night, the 4 of us went out to dinner for SD Restaurant Week.
We went to 333 Pacific in Oceanside and had a great time.
A yummy 3 course meal for $30 + a couple half price bottles of wine + a restaurant right across from the beach + great friends = a great time had by all.

Weekend Update

We have had ourselves a busy little weekend around here.

Friday evening we went to dinner at Harrah's in Rincon, and Papa Bob and Abuelita joined us.
We ate at the buffet and stuffed ourselves.

I love that they have the crab legs cut in half already, it is such a pain to crack the crab, this is so much easier.

And then Papa Bob became her best friend, because he brought her back her very own ice cream cone. Don't worry more ended up on her face than in her mouth.

After dinner Papa Bob and Abuelita Rose took Emma home for the night...

and Douggie and I went to the Gary Allan concert.

We didn't get many good pictures, but we did get a little video clip.
Douggie bought me these tickets as part of my birthday gift, thank you Douggie. :)

Saturday I had to work for a bit in the morning... boo!
But then we headed back over to the folks house and picked them up.
Then we picked up Jacob and headed to Chuck E Cheese.

Emma loved the little kid rides.

Jacob loved everything about the place.

With Jacob's funny straw.

Sunday Douggie and Emma went to church with the fam.
I did a little shopping for our Ranch photo shoot.

In the afternoon we headed up to the Newell's house in Temecula.
We played for a little bit there and then went out for yummy mexican food.
Emma loved watching Chase run around, I think she has a little crush. ;)
Silly me, I left the camera in the car, so no pictures with the Newell family.

Now we are settling down with a little Yo Gabba Gabba and getting ready for bath and bed time.
Funny it didn't seem as if we had much to do, but ended up being super busy.

35 Weeks

Probably one of the best gifts I have ever received was this...
A wine glass just for me that has 4 pour levels:
the first says - Everything is great
the second says - Emma is cranky
the third says - Doug is being a pain
and the top says - Bad day at work

Thank you Kristyn for my wonderful gift.

Well today I came home and Doug listened to a little of my venting and poured a glass of wine all the way up!
Enough about my bad day...

then I see this little one, and everything is A-ok!
A little puzzle time.

And a little walking time... well almost.

Emma has this new toy and she seems to be doing well with it, she will be walking in no time!
Spoiler alert, she falls, but no worries, she was smiling when we picked her up.

8

Our little girl is 8 months old!!!
Yikes... she is growing up way too fast.

We celebrated as any 8 month old should...
Tried new foods at Lucille's for a birthday dinner last night, and loved them.

Played dress up with some props from Jacob's cowboy birthday bash.

Went for a walk on the beach with Papa Bob, Abuelita Rose, Jacob and the folks, but for some silly reason we didn't take any pictures.

And of course, everyone has to take a bath outside in a tub.

Emma was in heaven and splish splashed away.

Awwww, look at those crazy beautiful eyes.

Poor little Emma has been teething like crazy. She has her 2 bottom teeth, and now it seems as if her top ones are getting ready to come in.
It is so hard to watch her be so uncomfortable. Hurry up teeth and come on in!!!

Happy 8 months!

Happy 4th Birthday Jacob!

Yesterday was our nephew Jacob's 4th Birthday... wow, crazy that he is already 4!
He had his birthday party up at the Ranch were we do weddings.
They throw great kids birthday parties there with real horse back riding, none of that silly pony ride stuff.

The birthday boy :)

Emma was thrilled to come and visit her friend Molly.

All of the kids got to join in grooming the horses before they went riding, the kids loved this!

On our way to the horseback riding.

Jacobs turn... "look mom, no hands!"

Abuelita and Emma

Zeke and Caitlyn

Anyssa and Victoria.
Victoria was a natural, they even nick named her 'Rodeo Queen.'

Ricardo and Jacob riding back up to the stables.
Jacob had the chance to ride on the smaller horse, but told Miss Hannah, the trainer, "Now that I am 4, I need to ride the big horse."

Attempt at a group kiddo picture.

Played a little pin the cowboy hat on Jacob.

Emma got to hit her 1st piñata, and loved it... until she saw everyone else hitting it, then she got mad and cried.

Jacob's turn.

Caubbie (Aunt Carmen) feeding little Emma, and looking adorable!

Present time.

Watch out Jacob, someone is trying to get your presents.
She was so sneaky!

Enjoying a yummy Lighting McQueen cupcake made by his mommy.

After all of the festivities, the kids cooled off in the pool.

And this little one went skinny dipping :)

Caitlyn and her adorable get-up of a bikini and cowboy boots.

Some of us partied a little too hard and passed out before we could put her in her car seat.

We had a great time at the party!
Happy 4th Birthday to the best little nephew we could ask for.
