Tuesday With the family

We made a 2nd trip to the beach with the new group of out of towners.

Kevin and Lauren running through the sand
.
Little Benny, looking so cute in his beach wear!

The gang building a sand castle.

Sorry no pictures of Emma.  It was a windy day, and turns out, Emma doesn't like the wind.  We spent most of our time hanging out in the car.

We had such a great time with all of our Seattle family.  So many exciting adventures and so many fun memories.  We can't wait for our next visit together, see ya in Seattle this summer!!!

Monday with the family

SEA WORLD!!!
Emma made her 1st trip to Sea World.  Poor Douggie had to work and wasn't able to join us.

Here is mommy and Emma in the under water Shamu viewing area.

Jacob and Lauren feeding the Sea Lions.

The gang waiting to touch the dolphins.

Here are Ryan, Ebit, Kevin and Val on the Shipwreck Rapids.  So brave getting wet, because it was pretty cold out.

Sea World was a blast!

Sunday with the family

Sunday afternoon we went to the Amgen Tour de California.  Kind of exciting that it actually took place here in Esco.

Sorry I didn't get a picture of the actual race, but I was busy feeding Emma when they actually rode by.  Oh well, a crowd shot will have to do.

Before the race came through we played in Grape day park.
Here are Hadley, Jacob and Lauren.

Emma was at the park, but she decided to sleep instead of play.  Her daddy picked out her cow bib, he said that her outfit could use a little spicing up.

Then we had dinner and birthday cake for everyone at my parent's house.
Here are the birthday people, Megan, Claire, Uncle Mike and Kevin.  Poor Hadley had already gone to bed so she missed out on us singing to her.

Looks like Lauren enjoyed her cake!

Happy 7 Week Birthday Emma!

Emma celebrated her 7 week birthday with a little dance.  We're not sure if it's the Tango or the "Carlton" (from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air).  We'll let you be the judge:

She is getting so much more aware of her surroundings and her smiles are so beautiful.  Marie will be posting some more pictures of our adventures from the last week soon but until then, enjoy the YouTube link.

The Zoo

We made a trip to the San Diego Zoo with our Seattle family.

Here is our happy family.  What a special day, it was Emma's 1st trip to the zoo!

More Seattle family flew in just in time to go to the zoo with us.
Here is my cousin Val and her adorable family, Kevin holding Lauren and Val holding Ben.
Ryan, Hadley and Megan.

Ebit holding Emma, me, Hadley, Val holding Ben and Ryan.
We are so lucky to have them come and visit us.

Omar, Ebit, Jacob, Dad and Douggie looking at the monkeys.

Jacob and Douggie.

We had a great time and can't wait to see what the rest of our visit will hold.

The beach

We took a trip to the beach with our out of towners.

It also happened to be Emma's 1st trip to the beach.  As you can tell, she loved it!

Megan and Ryan pushing Hadley.

Hadley and Jacob, the new lifeguards in town.

After the beach, we went to  lunch at Ruby's.  Jacob and Hadley had a great time!

We love family!!!

This week we have been SO lucky to have family come in town from Seattle to visit.
On Thursday my cousin Ryan, his wife Megan and their daughter Hadley came into town.

This is adorable Hadley, she is 2 years old.  She was pretty cute, because she thought she needed to take a turn in Emma's swing.

6 week weigh in

This afternoon we had our weekly weigh in with Dr. McCormick.  Doug was working in Orange County today so my parents joined me.

Good news, our little gal gained 9 1/2 ounces.  She now weighs 9 lbs 15 oz.
Dr. McCormick was very pleased with her weight gain.  Even more good news, is that we don't have to go back next week.  Our next appointment will be for her 2 month check-up.

So Dr. McCormick's findings from last week were right on.  Emma just needs extra calories, because her metabolism is so fast.  We will continue to add the formula powder to my breast milk to help keep her gaining weight.

Doesn't she look so sweet sleeping in her crib?!

She has been such a good girl for us, which makes it easier for me to go back to work.  My 1st day back was yesterday and so far so good.  It is hard to leave Emma, but I couldn't imagine her in any better hands.  She goes to Grandma Rose's and judging by the smiles she has been giving Grandma, I think she likes it there.  Right now I am only working two days a week and I will slowly start working more.

Heather's Baby shower

This afternoon Emma and I went to Heather's baby shower for little Rachel.
Heather is the last of the preggo pals so this was an exciting event!

Emma got dressed up and even wore her fancy shoes!  I love her little legs!

Here is Heather opening her MOUNTAIN of gifts.

Here are the Preggo pals +1.  Bri (a non preggo pal), me, Heather and Kristyn.
These ladies have all worked with me at the Sports Center, I have met some of my best friends through work.

We are getting closer to Rachel's arrival.  Heather is due April 3rd and we can't wait to meet Rachel!

Snow day videos

So here are the videos that I promised.

Jacob also made his very own snow angel.  There isn't anything really exciting in this short clip, but he is pretty cute.

My mom is a crack up.  She loves to have fun, and sometimes I feel as though she is still a big kid at heart.  I also love how at the end of the video, Jacob runs after her to check on her.

Ok, so my video is really embarrassing!!!  I HATE seeing myself on video, but I had to post this because it makes for a good laugh.  I almost ate it on such a tiny little hill.  Imagine what would have happened if I went down a real hill.

P.S. I know I may look like an idiot because I have no gloves, but I was a nice Aunt and let Jacob wear my gloves.  Apparently he liked mine better.

Snow day!!!

So it never snows here in Escondido, but luckily it does at Palomar Mountain which is less than an hour away.  My parents had a grand idea to take Jacob to the snow, and they invited us along.

Here is our happy little family. :)
Thank you uncle Andy for Emma's super warm little bear outfit.

We all enjoyed sledding, but I think Grandma Rose and Jacob had the most fun!  Don't worry once Doug re-sizes the videos I will post them.

Douggie, Jacob and Papa Bob had great snowball fights.
Gotta love those rosy little cheeks and nose!

Papa Bob even brought an ice chest so that Jacob could take some snow home and throw snow balls at his folks.  Pretty sneaky, but it was really funny.

Emma and Jacob

The two kiddos tonight at Grandma and Grandpa's House. Even though Jacob wasn't smiling, he really was having a good time.  How could a kid not have a good time when Grandma gave him an ice cream cone.

Grandma Rose is spoiling us, she watched Emma for us again tonight so that we could go out to dinner.  She also watched Jacob for Liz and Omar.  Papa Bob came home to help out as soon as he got off of work.

Thank you for taking care of our little gal!

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Happy Valentine's Day from Emma!

A special thank you to Uncle Mike and Aunt Cindy for her cute outfit.

We would like to wish all of our family a friends lots of love and happiness on this day.

A night out for mommy and daddy

Last night Doug and I joined a group of friends from my work for a night out.  One of the girls that works for me is joining the Army and going off to boot camp next week.  We all wanted to have one last night out with her and she chose to go to Stampede, (a country bar).
We were lucky enough to have Grandma Rose come over and watch Emma, and I promise it didn't take much convincing.  Grandma Rose loves watching our little Emma!  She even gave Emma her bath last night.  Thank you Grandma Rose!!!

Me and Douggie.  We had a great time, but really missed our little gal!

Noel and Bri

The ladies - Katie, Marie, Kimi, Juliana (the one joining the Army), Kailyn and Bri

We had a great time and we wish Juliana all the best!
Despite her small size, she is pretty feisty so I have no doubt she will do well.

A fun day!

Yesterday we had a great day at home with Emma!  Doug was busy working but he was able to sneak a couple peeks at our little one playing and smiling.

She loves her "Little Einsteins" play gym.  And don't you just love her little ballerina shoe socks!

Then Emma got all dressed in her riding gear to go down the street to Escondido Cycle Center's open house last night.
Everyone loved her outfit.  She is all set for the desert!

5 week weigh in...

Today we went to Dr. McCormick... again!
We once again kept our fingers crossed for more weight gain as we set her on the scale.

And we got it, 2.5 ounces this time.  Some improvement but still not the 5 - 7 ounces that they would have liked.

Apparently our little Emma just has a super fast metabolism and needs extra calories.  We now are going to  feed her 3 ounces of straight breast milk and then add in formula, just the powder and not mix it with water.  This will give her a super concentrated and calorie packed feeding.

And guess what... we go back again next week to see how it goes.

Here are her stats:
9lbs  5 1/2 ounces - 50th Percentile
22 3/4 inches - 90th Percentile

Their concern for her weight is because she started out at 8 lbs 12 ounces and she should have gained more by this point.

Nothing cuter than a kiddo in their jammies! Thank you Tia Ebit for these adorable ones.

There she blows...

So about an hour ago we had bath time at our house.  I know weird, bath time at 1:30 in the afternoon! Isn't that something that is saved until just before bed time for kiddos?!  Well I had no other option.

Our little Emma only poops every couple of days, (don't worry her doctor says it is normal) and when she goes, she really goes.
She went so much that it went all up her back and all over her clothes, yucky!!!
I hurried up and got a bath ready and then we made some lemonade out of the sour situation and enjoyed a fun little play time.
Then we got all cozy and lotioned up...

...and then dressed.  Don't you love her 'capris'? They are actually supposed to be pants but apparently our little string bean is getting taller by the day and outgrowing her newborn clothes.  Her skinny little legs looked so cute so I didn't bother to change her.  I know it is a bit ghetto, but we aren't going anywhere so I figured it was ok.

Couldn't resist...

I love her skinny little arm over her forehead!
Yesterday afternoon someone just wanted to be held. Since I had some chores to do around the house I put her in the Baby Bjorn and it kept her happy and sleeping for HOURS!!! She even stayed asleep in there while Jessica, Bri and Noel came over for dinner.

Happy One Month Birthday Emma!

Today Emma celebrated her one month birthday in style.  Here she is showing off her new Hurley hoodie.  We can't believe how fast the time has been flying by.

4 Weeks Old!!!

Happy 4 week birthday Emma!

We got a phone call from Dr. McCormick this morning, and good news, Emma's lab results came back and everything is normal!!!  She is still a little confused about no weight gain, so we are continuing with breast milk and formula.  And of course we get to go back next Tuesday for another weigh in.

Grandma Rose stopped by for a visit last night.  She stayed around long enough to feed Emma and watch her get her bath.  Looks like Corona was a little bit jealous of Emma getting all of the attention!

Last night was a really big night... Emma slept in her crib for the 1st time.  I think it was lots harder on me then it was on her.  I know it is best for her, but I just loved having her close to us.
She did really well, and the only reason she looks fussy in this picture is because I snapped it when she was waking up to eat.
